Anthony Scarola of 7th grade recently won the West Hartford Youth Hockey Association's (WHYA) LawrencePhillipon 'Excellence in Goaltending' award. The award is given out each year to a goalie who is nominated by the coaches and board of WHYA for goaltending excellence on the ice, but sportsmanship and leadership off the ice as well. The award is in honor of Lawrence Phillipon, a Marine Lance Corporal who died in combat in Iraq. He played his whole career as a goalie for WHYA and then went on to be the starting goaltender for Conard High School. This prestigious award is only given out 1 time per year, and Anthony Scarola was the recipient for 2011-2012. Anthony has been a goaltender in the WHYA organization since he was 5. The St. Anthony School family wishes to congratulate Anthony on this incredible achievement!
