Home and School AssociationDear St. Anthony Families,
Welcome Back to our returning families and Welcome to our new families. Home and School is the equivalent of PTA/PTO in public school, and is primarily for helping with communication between the school administration and the parents, prospering the family feeling of the school, and fundraising. We provide the opportunity for school families to get together at our various family events, including our Welcome Back Picnic and Movie Night (Friday, Sept 10th, rain or shine), Halloween Party, Family Bingo & Bowling Nights, Rockcats and more. We also are responsible for raising $60,000 for the 2010-2011 school year through our various fundraisers, including Tuesday & Friday Bingo, Auction, Fall Product and Yankee Candle Sales. Without the fundraising, we would have to increase tuition to raise the extra funds necessary to run the school. Please support the family and Fundraising events. Each family in Prek is required to raise $100 in profit from fundraising and volunteer 25 hours while K-8th have $200 in fundraising and 50 hours volunteer requirement. Volunteering at Family events or fundraisers will help fulfill these requirements. We will have signup sheets for all events at the Welcome Back Picnic and first HSA meeting. We hold meetings every 2 months in the church hall where Fr. Al reports on Parish happenings, Dr. Nocera reports on school issues and upcoming HSA events, and fundraising is discussed.
We have had several wonderful family events including the Welcome Back Picnic, Sports Booster Pasta Dinner, Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa, Family Bowling, Family Bingo, Bus Trip to Mohegan Sun, Family Night at Rockcats and Lake Compounce. Our fundraising events include Fall Product Sale, Auction, Golf Tournament, Tuesday & Friday Bingo and Yankee Candle Sale.
A special Thank You to Mrs. D and Tina Salius for being the Teacher Liasons to the HSA for this year. Their input is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
Our First HSA meeting is on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:30pm in the church hall followed by the Meet the Teacher Night in the school for parents of students in grades 1-8.
